A Word of  Encouragement from our
Director of Missions

“Good News and Bad News”

Did you hear about the old gentleman who went to the doctor with a really bad leg? After thoroughly examining the man, the doctor concluded that they would have to amputate the bad leg, which they did. The day following the surgery, the doctor reported to the man that he had some good news and some bad news. The man said, “Doc, give me the bad news first!” to which the doctor replied, “The bad news is, we accidentally amputated the good leg. The man, startlingly replies, well, what’s the good news? The doctor answered, “Best we can tell, the bad leg is getting better!”

Regarding the Covenant Hope Church property near McLoud, the good news is that the original $72,200.00 loan established in November, 2009 has been PAID IN FULL and PLBA holds a clear title/deed to the property. The sad news is that we will be taking action at our August 13 Executive Board Meeting to place the property on the market for sale. Please pray for God’s on-going wisdom for our Trustees and Partnership Missions Committee as this process is undertaken.

The closing of Covenant Hope Fellowship on June 30, 2018, as with the closing of Son Rise Southern in January of 2015 (both of which utilized this property), have been heart breaks for us all. However, we will be forever grateful for the souls saved and lives changed during the years between 1998-2018 through that location. We covet the prayers of all our churches and pastors as decisions are made regarding the sale of the “McLoud Property.” We anticipate a progress report at our September 10, 10:30 a.m., Executive Board Meeting.

Encouragingly yours, Russell R. Cook
