The Center for Christian Counseling and Care

In August of 2013, Larry Roberts, Heather Annis, and Bret Ellard organized and founded The Center for Christian Counseling and Care. This counseling center has as its mission helping individuals, couples, and families deal with challenging situations and events which often prove to be overwhelming and, at times, devastating to them.  Each counselor is dedicated to providing assistance and support to hurting individuals of all ages based upon a Biblical world view.  Located at 1 West 10th Street in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the center has recently expanded its office space and, with the expansion, has added two additional licensed professional counselors to the staff.  The purpose of this correspondence is to make you aware of the presence of this counseling center as well as introduce you to the two new counselors:

LeAnna Davenport is a Licensed Professional Counselor and holds a BA degree from Oklahoma Baptist University (1986).  In addition, she graduated with dual Master of Arts degrees from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Marriage and Family Counseling and in Religious Education (1993).  She worked in private practice as a church counselor in Texas for 12 years. She works with individuals as young as 13 years of age.  LeAnna brings expertise in dealing with such issues as marital and premarital counseling, depression, anxiety, adjustments, grief, transitions, adolescent issues, and other general difficulties.  Married 27 years to Robert, the Athletic Director for Oklahoma Baptist University, the Davenports have 2 children, live in Shawnee, and are active members at Immanuel Baptist Church.

Mina Jones is a Licensed Professional Counselor and holds her BA degree in Sociology from the University of Central Oklahoma (1997). In addition, she earned a MS degree in Counseling Psychology from Mid-America Christian University (2012).  She works with individual of all ages and her practice focuses on issues related to grief, loss, anger, depression, anxiety, adjustment, behavioral issues, child sexual abuse, and domestic violence.  Mina sits on the Advisory Board for Tallgrass Family Services.  This agency works to place children in safe foster care environments.  She and her husband Bob have been married 23 years.  They have been active in prison ministry for over 10 years during which they have taught Evangelism Explosion as well as Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP). As active members of Immanuel Baptist Church, the Jones' teach high school Sunday School classes. Mina and Bob have 5 sons, 5 daughter-in-laws, and 8 grandchildren.

Interns:  In additions to the five full-time licensed counselors on staff, The Center for Christian Counseling and Care provides supervision for master level students who are required to accumulate a significant number of hours of practical counseling experience. There currently are two practicum students who also provide services to individuals and couples needing counseling.  As students in training, their fees for service come at a reduced rate thus allowing those with limited financial resources to get the help they need without financial hardship.

To schedule an appointment with The Center for Christian Counseling and Care, or to simply inquire further regarding services offered, call (405) 275-2222. Cheryl Meshew,  the office manager, will be more than happy to assist you. Counselors are available for both daytime and evening appointments.  Most insurances are accepted along with Sooner Care for individuals under the age of 20.  You can also gain valuable information regarding this counseling center by exploring the website:
